Streaming with Zattoo happens in real time (unlike on YouTube, Netflix or Amazon). Therefore, a good and stable internet connection is very important. To ensure that you receive the best quality, we monitor our servers continuously. Please read the following advises to optimize the streaming quality should you experience any issues:
Internet connection: Only if a sufficient Internet speed is guaranteed, the live stream runs smoothly.
These are the minimum requirements for the download speed per stream:
- SD: 3 Mbit/s
- HD: 5 Mbit/s
- Full HD: 8 Mbit/s
Get more information here. The current connection can be checked here: https://fast.com/de/.
Parallel use: While streaming with Zattoo, no other programs (e.g. Skype, YouTube) should be used simultaneously on the same or a different device in the same network. This can significantly reduce the bandwidth. All other active programs should be closed.
Update of app and operating system: Please check if an update for the Zattoo App and the installed software is available on your device and install it. In the Zattoo mobile app (Android and iOS), you can set the bitrate to low. For the use in the internet browser we recommend to keep the browser version up-to-date and to pause downloads and uploads. Clearing the cache is recommended to create more storage. A full hard disk can have a negative impact on the streaming quality.
Reboot and reposition the router: Please restart your router. If this does not improve the quality, please check if there is a software update available for your router box and install it. When streaming with WLAN, position the device you are streaming with as close to the router as possible.
LAN connection: For stable transmission, especially to the large screen such as Smart TV, Apple TV or Amazon Fire TV, we recommend a LAN connection (cable connection). WLAN (wireless connection) can be affected by many factors that are not visible at first glance and is much more susceptible to errors than a cable connection.
Local network: Another reason for reduced streaming quality might also be found in the local network. Unfortunately, we do not have any access to this and kindly ask you to contact the provider directly.
