Here are a few tips to stream in best quality, optimise your home network and improve streaming quality.
Parallel use and network capacity overload
Any processes running alongside your Zattoo stream can negatively affect the streaming quality. Close all programmes and tabs on your device that are running in the background and are not needed. Pause downloads on your device or other devices on your network. If possible, turn off the internet connection on other devices to minimise distractions on your network.
At popular streaming times (e.g. during off-peak hours or prime time on weekends), internet speeds may slow down in your geographic area as you share the line with other customers. If you have any questions about this, contact your provider.
Restarting the router
Restart your router to maintain the performance and quality of your internet connection and fix any problems such as a missing connection or slow internet.
Update to the latest software version
Make sure that the latest available firmware is installed on your device and router and that your Zattoo app is updated to the latest available app version.
Mobile Apps - Adjust bitrate
On iOS and Android smartphones and tablets you can adjust the bitrate within the Zattoo app: Settings > Mobile/WiFi > High/Low.
Tips for use on the web
For use on the web, we recommend keeping the browser version up to date and pausing downloads and uploads. Clearing the cache is recommended to create more memory. A full hard disk can negatively affect the streaming quality.
Use Ethernet instead of WiFi
To improve speed and quality, use a LAN connection. This automatically eliminates obstacles and the quality usually remains consistent.
Optimise your WiFi connection
Establish a line of sight between your router and your streaming device. Minimise the number of electrical and solid objects between the router and your device. The more obstacles, such as doors, walls and furniture, between your wireless router and your streaming device, the worse your streaming quality may be.
Use the 5 GHz band instead of the 2.4 GHz band. This setting is supported in most router settings. In addition, most routers have different WiFi channels available. Use a channel that is not so heavily frequented.
Use a repeater or a powerline device to extend the WiFi range.
