In Switzerland, special rules apply to advertising on certain channels when using time-shifted TV. These rules are based on GT12.
Depending on your subscription and the channel, different rules apply:
With Premium, additional advertising is shown on participating channels.
With Ultimate, ad breaks in certain content can be skipped with one click.
Table of contents
1. What does GT12 mean?
GT12 stands for Joint Tariff 12. It is a Swiss industry agreement for time-shifted television (Replay TV).
You can find more information here:
For Zattoo in Switzerland, this means:
With Premium, additional advertising is shown on participating channels for certain time-shifted use cases, for example when using Replay, Restart, recordings in the first 7 days, or when pausing live TV, Replay or recordings.
With Ultimate, Replay TV remains more convenient to use. On supported channels, ad breaks in Replay and recordings can be skipped with one click.
2. Why do I see additional advertising with my Premium subscription (Switzerland)?
With Premium, additional advertising is shown on channels participating in the industry agreement when you:
start or fast-forward a Replay programme
restart a programme already in progress (Restart)
watch recorded programmes within the first 7 days
press pause during live TV, Replay or recordings
3. What types of ads are there?
The following types of ads may appear with Premium when streaming time-shifted TV:
Start Ads: a short ad shown when starting a programme in time-shifted TV
Fast Forward Ads: an ad shown when fast-forwarding through an ad break in time-shifted TV
Pause Ads: a static ad shown after pressing pause in live TV or time-shifted TV
4. Can I still fast-forward with Premium?
Fast-forwarding is still generally possible. However, an additional ad is shown first.
After that, the regular ad break can be fast-forwarded as usual.
5. What applies to Zattoo Ultimate Switzerland?
With Zattoo Ultimate Switzerland, ad breaks in Replay programmes and recordings on supported channels can be skipped with one click.
Please note:
In programmes that are currently live and watched from the beginning using Restart, the skip function is not available or only partially available.
6. On which channels can I use the ad skipping feature?
With Zattoo Ultimate Switzerland, ad breaks in Replay and recordings can be skipped with one click on the following channels:

4+ HD
5+ HD
6+ HD
7+ HD

7. Why does ad skipping not always work?
It is the responsibility of the broadcasters to place the corresponding markers in the ad breaks so that entire ad blocks can be skipped with one click.
If these markers are missing:
the ads can still be fast-forwarded manually as usual
however, one-click ad skipping will not be available
Zattoo has no influence over this.
8. What remains unchanged on other channels?
For all other TV channels, Replay TV remains unchanged, including the ability to fast-forward ads as usual.
