1. What internet speed is required?

For Zattoo to work properly and for the stream to run smoothly, your internet connection should reach at least the following download speed:

• 0.5 Mbit/s – technical minimum requirement

• 3 Mbit/s – recommended for SD

• 5 Mbit/s – recommended for HD

• 8 Mbit/s – recommended for Full HD

2. Recommended internet plans depending on your subscription

Since Zattoo is usually not the only service being used in a household, we recommend the following internet speeds:

• Zattoo Free: 16–30 Mbit/s
  (1 SD stream + normal internet use)

• Zattoo Smart HD: 30–50 Mbit/s
  (1 HD stream + other online activities)

• Zattoo Premium: 30–50 Mbit/s
  (up to 2 simultaneous HD streams)

• Zattoo Ultimate: 50–100 Mbit/s
  (up to 4 simultaneous Full HD streams)

3. Why a stable connection is important

Zattoo streams content live and in real time. This means that the stream is not preloaded.

In practical terms, this means:

• no preloading

• no classic buffering like with video-on-demand services

If your connection is unstable, the following issues may occur more quickly:

• picture interruptions

• reduced picture quality

• longer startup times

4. LAN, Wi-Fi or mobile connection – which is the most stable?

For the most stable connection, we recommend using a LAN cable connection.

It is the least susceptible to interference and is especially ideal for streaming on a TV.

Wi-Fi is convenient, but it can be affected by many factors, for example:

• greater distance from the router

• walls or ceilings

• other devices on the network

If you use Wi-Fi, make sure that as few devices as possible are consuming a lot of bandwidth at the same time.

Mobile data or hotspots (for example via a smartphone or mobile router) are generally possible, but they can:

• fluctuate more strongly

• become unstable more quickly

• be throttled depending on your data plan

They are therefore only suitable to a limited extent for longer or high-resolution streaming.

VPN connections can significantly affect streaming quality.
Using Zattoo via VPN is not recommended and is not supported.
