To ensure Zattoo works properly on your Fire TV, make sure that both the Zattoo app and the Fire OS software are up to date.
Follow the steps below in the given order and only proceed to the next step if the issue persists.
Table of contents
1. Restart Fire TV
Disconnect the Fire TV from power for at least 60 seconds.
Reconnect the device and start it again.
Alternatively, restart via:
Settings → My Fire TV → Restart.
2. Reinstall the Zattoo app
Uninstall the app: Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → Zattoo TV → Uninstall.
Restart your Fire TV.
Reinstall the app: Apps → Search for Zattoo → Download.
3. Update Fire TV software
Open: Settings → My Fire TV → About.
Select Check for Updates and install available updates.
4. Clear app cache and app data
Open: Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → Zattoo TV.
Select Clear cache.
Then select Clear data.
Restart Fire TV and open Zattoo again.
Note: Clearing app data usually requires signing in again.
5. Check network and connection
Restart your router.
Disconnect the network connection on Fire TV and reconnect.
Test a different network if possible (e.g. mobile hotspot).
If possible, test the 5 GHz band on your Wi-Fi.
Check whether other devices on the same network can stream without issues.
Please note:
Public or hotel Wi-Fi networks may restrict or block streaming.
These networks often use firewalls, filters or bandwidth limits.
For a stable connection, a wired setup is recommended:
Use an Ethernet adapter to connect Fire TV directly to the router.
Further tips can be found in our Improve streaming quality article.
6. Manually set the video frequency
In some combinations of Fire TV, television and HDMI settings, automatic frequency selection may not work optimally. In this case, manually setting the frequency can help.
Open: Settings → Display & Sounds → Display → Video Resolution.
Change the setting from Auto to 1080p 50 Hz or 720p 50 Hz.
Check which option works best for your setup.
7. Disable VPN, proxy or DNS filters
Zattoo may be blocked if the internet connection uses services that mask or reroute the IP address.
Check directly on Fire TV:
Open Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications.
Check for installed VPN, security or network apps.
Disable or uninstall these apps temporarily.
Restart Fire TV.
Also check the network:
If a VPN is configured on the router, disable it temporarily.
Check whether a DNS filter (e.g. ad blocker, Pi-hole, parental control) is active.
Test using a different network (e.g. mobile hotspot).
After each change:
Restart Fire TV and the router.
Open the Zattoo app again.
8. Reset Fire TV to factory settings
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, you can reset Fire TV to factory settings. The device will need to be set up again.
Open: Settings → My Fire TV → Reset to Factory Defaults.
